Story of the Inventor: Garrett Morgan was born in Paris, Kentucky. He was born on March 4,1877. Morgan went into the newspaper business, starting the "Cleveland Call." He was very successful, and eventually bought a car. While he was driving along the streets of Cleveland, he realized how unsafe intersections were, and was determined to make driving safer.Morgan was the 7th out ot 11 kids.He died on August 27,1963 in Clevland, Ohio.

Story of the Invention: Garrett Morgan invented the traffic signal in 1923.  He invented it to regulate vehicle movement in city areas.He recived a patent in 1923. In 1923 Morgan Genral Electric Company gave him $50,000.The Morgan traffic signal was a T-shaped pole unit that featured three hand-cranked positions: Stop, Go and an all-directional stop position. This third position halted traffic in all directions to allow pedestrians to cross streets more safely. Its one advantage over others of its type was the ability to operate it from a distance using a mechanical linkage. Morgan sold the rights to his traffic signal to the G.E.C for $40,000.

Story of the Impact of the Invention: The Traffic Signal has impacted the world by helping keep the world kind of safe. Even though there are many accidents the roads are alot better than they were . The 3 way  lights tell when a car should go , slow down, and stop. It also says when you can turn.

Story of the Future of the Invention: In the future the traffid signals should be solar powered. They should have tracks to have you get across the road saftley. It should be easier to conntrol and they shouldn't go out.
